The emergence of the metaverse is imminent, and it will become as ubiquitous as popular social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Meta (formerly Facebook). As technology progresses and introduces us to new immersive and imaginary worlds, we need to update our approach to education and teacher training to keep up with these opportunities. If we fail to keep pace with these digital advancements, the technology will shape our definition of educational opportunities instead of educators. This is what happened when educational apps intended for adults were introduced to children. While the infrastructure for the metaverse is still being built, researchers, educators, policymakers, and digital designers have an opportunity to take the lead and avoid being left behind ( Shaffer, 2023) . To maximize the potential of the metaverse as a 3D, worldwide, interconnected, immersive, and real-time online space, we must find new ways to connect the physical world with augmented and virtual re
